Milton Bland (Pottery)
Simpson, North Carolina
![]() ![]()
Ever since Milton saw potters working in historical Jamestown, Virginia while on a high school class trip, he knew this was an art form he had to pursue. During the 1970's, Milton studied ceramics at Lenoir Community College and East Carolina University. Influences include ancient Egyptian, Japanese, Greek, Persian and Korean pottery as well as Native American forms.
Milton makes wheel thrown, functional and non-functional, stoneware and porcelain wares. He also makes Raku pottery and occasional hand built or slab rolled pieces. His artistic goals are to learn today what wasn't known yesterday and to do better tomorrow than what was done today.
