Margaret Attkisson (Painting)![]() ![]() ![]() As a child Margaret had rheumatic Fever and was in the bed and hospital often. She found refuge drawing, crafting, and creating. Her mother was more than happy to encourage her to major in Art at East Carolina University. Since she had won art awards herself. While there, Margaret felt privileged to have Francis Speight as an instructor. “I have had many excellent teachers over the years, but his ability to capture the feeling of any subject has always mesmerized me.” For twenty years she had a jewelry business designing and fabricating jewelry. Since retiring for “One of a Kind Design Jewelry,” she has dedicated her time to painting and master gardening. She is proud that her son, Ken is the third generation of artists. He owns “Ken’s Handcrafted Jewelry” in Edenton, North Carolina. Attkisson resides in Windsor along with her husband, Wayne. She has a daughter-in-law, Jennifer and a grandson, Batchelor. Her paintings have been in traveling exhibits through the United States, Duke Seminary, and purchased through art shows, art councils, and private collections. “I see some beauty in everything. To me, Art is LIFE – everyone possesses some form of it, and all people see art differently. I have always had an inner feeling that I was born to make a difference on this earth through creativity and painting. Each painting comes from my heart, and I hope it grabs the viewer’s attention to relay a special feeling to you!” Oils, Acrylics and watercolors are her favorite medium. “I want each painting I do to express my gratitude for the extra ordinary privilege I feel being an artist.” |
