Dennis Lighthart paints realistic watercolors of the Landscapes and Seascapes found in the eastern United States. The influences of American artists past and present have made an impression on his work. Estes, the Wyeths, Remington, Homer, and Goings, are among a few on the biggest influences. Hi paintings are built layer upon layer of transparent watercolor washes, combining a loose abstract under current with a tight focus on the details. Brief splashes of sunlight and shadows set the mood of the paintings, be it a soft quiet moment in time at the beach or a stormy day at sea.
